La boheme

A small group of us created an animation for The Royal Opera House. We were told to create a animation based on one opera, that would make people want to go to the opera, particularly those who wouldn’t normally go. We were given La Boheme, after researching the opera we came up with the idea to use embroidery as one of the protagonists was an embroiderer. We wanted to animate our embroidery but we knew this would be incredibly time consuming. We decided to use a record-player as a zoetrope. We created numerous embroidered disks with imagery that reflected the tragic love in La Boheme.
